Lørdag, Februar, Ti

Ah February. Is it over yet?

Good News: The A.S.S. is finished ! Yes, the sock for the aunt is finally done and ready to be mailed. I love Posh Yarn Cashmere sock yarn. It is sooo very soft and lovely to work. The Hedera pattern is lovely too. But I was also glad to be done. It seemed to take twice as long. Then again, I spent the last six weeks battling some oppressive pain. Arthritis should be curable. At one point I was considering just lopping off the offending parts. However I am just such a coward. So, no lopping. Instead I was directed to an amazing doctor who is wise, sympathetic, kind, cute, friendly, intelligent and (yes, I do like him, why do you ask?) capable. He gave me options and arranged for cortisone shots. I have a new addiction. Pain-relief in the form of cortisone. Yes! And I must also thank the dear cousin who gave me such great advice and encouragement to seek out better treatments. Now that all pain-relieving pills are on my can't-take-that list, I am just happy for alternatives. There is however the problem of being stuck by sharp metal objects. I don't like needles. I really really don't like needles.

Have you seen this sock pattern? This is such a work of art. I can only hope the artist will release the pattern eventually. It is something I would willingly hang on the wall. And I think I know whose leg I would use to stuff it.

A recent chat with a relative brought both of us to this remembrance:

They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-haaa by Napoleon XIV

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go beserk

Well you left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind

And they're coming to take me away ha-haaa
They're coming to take me away ho ho hee hee ha haaa
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men
In their clean white coats
And they're coming to take me away ha haaa

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I said
That losing you would make me flip my lid

Right? You know you laughed
I heard you laugh. You laughed
You laughed and laughed and then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad

And they're coming to take me away ha haaa
They're coming to take me away ho ho hee hee ha haaa
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away ha haaa

I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind unselfish, loving deeds
Ha! Well you just wait
They'll find you yet and when they do
They'll put you in the A.S.P.C.A.
You mangy mutt

And they're coming to take me away ha haaa
They're coming to take me away ha haaa ho ho hee hee
To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men
In their clean white coats

And they're coming to take me away
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away ha haaa!

They already came to take me away
But I got loose and am home to stay
Where life is beautiful this is true and where home is, I haven't a clue
If you see me run by, all white and pink, it probably isn't what you think
Don't shoot at me cause I have a bad knee
Just wave as I pass, I run fast when I have gas CUZ
